Rules of Discipline
- Politeness and Respect: Within the school compound and beyond, students should exhibit politeness and respectful behaviour. They must embody qualities of respect for elders, teachers, and peers, alongside unwavering honesty and truthfulness.
- Upholding Standards of Conduct: Students are expected to consistently maintain exemplary manners and behaviour.
- Respectful Relationships and Obedience: Students are expected to maintain a respectful relationship with their teachers, exhibiting obedience and diligence in completing class and home assignments. This dedication to their academic responsibilities fosters their own educational progress and development. Moreover, respect for elders should be upheld at all times.
- Language Standards: Students must communicate in English within the school premises and while traveling using the school conveyance facility, maintaining a high standard in their conversations. This ensures a positive semantic environment, promoting clear and respectful communication. The use of appropriate and thoughtful language is expected at all times, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
- Fostering Healthy Relationships: As a co-educational institution, we cherish healthy relationships that promote social harmony. Students should maintain a respectable distance between genders. Any behaviour disrupting this harmony, either within or outside the school or via social media, will be subject to disciplinary measures.
- Responsibility and Obligation – A Call to Duty:Students entrusted with responsibilities must carry them out with unwavering duty and impartiality, adhering to the guidance provided by the principal or designated teachers. It is imperative to accord the elected or appointed representatives of the school and class the respect they deserve, as they play an integral role in assisting the administration in fostering a positive and productive teaching and learning environment.As we journey together under the light of our guiding motto, it is our collective responsibility to uphold the values of respect, duty, and impartiality.
- Clearing Doubts and Enquiries: Students should address their doubts and enquiries with politeness, seeking assistance from competent persons. Administrative matters should be directed to the office, while academic matters should be addressed with the respective subject teachers. This approach ensures that queries are handled efficiently and respectfully.
- Observing Silence and Decorum: Absolute silence must be maintained during general assemblies, while moving in and out of classrooms, and even within classrooms in the absence of teachers. During recess, students must refrain from rude or violent behaviour.
- School Handbook and Diary: All students must possess a copy of the school Handbook and Diary, which should be brought to school daily. This indispensable tool is essential for tracking day-to-day activities and monitoring the progress of each child in their learning environment. The Handbook and Diary should be meticulously maintained to reflect the student’s academic and personal growth. Additionally, it serves as a vital resource during daily assemblies, facilitating active participation in prayer and fostering a sense of community and spiritual engagement. Proper use and upkeep of the Diary will ensure students remain organized, informed, and deeply involved in their educational journey.
- Identification Cards: Students must wear the identification cards provided by the school at all times. This fosters a secure environment and ensures that students are easily identifiable, contributing to the overall safety and orderliness of the school.
- School Uniforms – A Symbol of Unity and Equality: Students must come to and attend school in the prescribed uniforms only. This practice not only reinforces a sense of unity but also embodies the principles of equality and equanimity. By adhering to the uniform dress code, we ensure that all students, regardless of their background, are presented equally and respectfully. This helps to eliminate distinctions and fosters an environment free from discrimination, promoting inclusiveness and mutual respect. The uniform serves as a testament to our commitment to fairness, ensuring that each individual feels valued and contributes to a harmonious and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Cleanliness and Order: Students are encouraged to maintain personal cleanliness, dress neatly, and behave orderly at all times. They should cooperate in keeping the school, classrooms, and campus immaculate.
- Food Habits and Table Etiquette:To ensure their physical nourishment, students must bring a tiffin box and water to school. The tiffin should contain an adequate quantity of food to sustain them throughout the day, with no wastage allowed. Family members and others are not permitted to bring food or give any food to students during school hours for safety reasons. Additionally, junk food is discouraged, promoting a culture of healthy eating and well-being. Students should practice proper table etiquette, including chewing with their mouths closed, using utensils appropriately, and cleaning up after themselves.
- Classroom Order:In the absence of a teacher, the class representatives (Prefect, Captain, and Monitor) assume full responsibility for maintaining order and discipline, a duty to be performed with loyalty and impartiality.
- Movement During Class Hours: Students must not loiter in the corridors or around classrooms during class hours.
- Staff Room and Restricted Area Access: Students may only enter the staff room if instructed by a teacher. Additionally, they should not enter other classrooms or restricted areas without explicit permission. Adherence to these guidelines ensures a respectful and orderly environment.
- Respect for Property: Respect for one’s property, school property, and the belongings of others is the hallmark of a well-bred and responsible student. Students should refrain from writing, carving, or scratching on school walls or defacing school furniture. Any damage to school property will be repaired at the student’s expense. This respect extends to maintaining the cleanliness and integrity of the school’s facilities, ensuring a pleasant and orderly environment for all.
- Collections and Contributions: No collections or contributions are to be imposed without the principal’s express approval.
- Personal Belongings: Students are responsible for their belongings. The school will not be liable for lost items such as books, money, or clothes. It is advisable not to bring valuables to school.
- Electronic Devices: Mobile phones and unapproved electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited on school premises. Unauthorized items will be confiscated by the administration.
- Unapproved Materials: Students should not bring unapproved books, comics, newspapers, or other materials to school.
- Lost and Found: Items found within the school premises should be handed over to the office.
- Littering: Students must dispose of waste properly, using bins provided throughout the campus.
- Transportation: Students are not permitted to use motorcycles, scooters, or vehicles without gears to commute to school. Only bicycles are allowed.
- Latecomers & Absentees: Latecomers and absentees must obtain the principal’s sanction before being admitted to class.
- Leaving School Premises: No student is allowed to leave the school campus during school hours without permission.
- Competitive Examinations: While competitive examinations are valuable for assessing a student’s abilities, excessive participation may lead to an increased workload and undue stress. To maintain a balanced and healthy academic environment, the school does not encourage an overemphasis on such exams. Students interested in appearing for competitive exams may do so individually, ensuring that their participation does not disrupt the smooth running of the school and the academic session.
- Private Tuition:Students are prohibited from taking private tuition from school staff members. Instead, they are encouraged to adopt the “do and error” method and experiential learning, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Engaging in active learning within the school environment supports academic growth and development.
- Addressing Grievances: Students with grievances should approach their class teacher, principal, or any staff member. Any form of verbal or physical assault is strictly prohibited and will result in severe disciplinary action.
- Individual Complaints: Collective petitions will not be entertained; individual complaints will receive sympathetic consideration.
